Mission Statement

Meeting Professionals International Oregon Chapter is a professional society of meeting planners and suppliers within the state of Oregon. It provides education, information, and networking services to its membership, promotes professionalism of meeting management, and serves as an information resource to the general public.

Quick Facts

Chapter Members: There are approximately 240 members in our chapter. We strive to keep the meeting planner/supplier ratio at 50:50. The Oregon Chapter is part of the world’s largest association of meeting professionals with more than 19,000 members in 64 countries.

Cost of Membership: Initial fee of $375 includes a $50 set-up fee. Renewal is $325 per year and is payable on your anniversary date. Student memberships are available for $30 per year. Student member applicants must be taking a minimum of 12 credits per term.

Chapter Meetings: Monthly meetings are generally the third Tuesday of the month, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., September to June with special/social events throughout the year. Meetings are usually held in the Portland metropolitan area. To accommodate a variety of schedules and needs, meeting times vary between breakfast, lunch and dinner receptions. Orientation meetings are held three times a year for new members or for current and potential members wanting to know more about the chapter. A three-day annual education conference is held in March. Cost of Meetings: Monthly lunch meetings are $26 for members, $30 for non-members and guests if registered by noon on the Friday prior to the meeting. Season passes are available to members.

Chapter Committees: Joining a committee helps you learn more about the chapter and the meetings industry as well as helping you network and gain working and personal relationships with members. MPI-OC has nine active committees: Annual Conference, Awards, Education/Programs, Fundraising/Sponsorship, Hospitality, Membership, Newsletter, Scholarship and Professional Development. International Meetings: MPI annually holds two North American and one European meeting. The two North American meetings are the Professional Education Conference and World Education Congress. The PEC is held each year in mid-January/early February. The WEC takes place in mid-July/early August annually. In addition, Institutes I and II, which is an intense five-day education program for beginner and intermediate level meeting professionals is held each year during late October/early November.
